More about Wendy's Kitchen Table..

Thank you for stopping by my website.

While I am not formally trained as a chef or a cook, I’ve loved baking for as long as I can remember. My dad’s mother was an amazing baker and I have very fond memories of her amazing Sunday afternoon teas wheeled out on her two-tiered mahogany tea trolley. It was these delicious afternoon teas that inspired me to begin my love of baking and to share what I bake with others.

I am in my “happy place” when I am in my kitchen cooking for my family, friends and for those in need of a home-cooked meal.

New Zealand born and bred, our family moved to Melbourne in 2000 with my husband and  3 beautiful teenage children. In 2015 we became Australian citizens. New Zealand will always be home but I love Australia and the privileged life we live here, in this sun-scorched land.

I would describe myself as a collector of great tried and true recipes that have been gathered from treasured friends, colleagues and family members over the years. Some of them I have tweaked to suit my children, our tastes, what’s in season and what I have on hand in the fridge or pantry at the time. Where I know the owner of the recipe I will endeavour to credit them.

So what is my food philosophy? I’m all about using pantry staples to create sweet treats and family friendly meals that have maximum flavour for minimum fuss. If you are after fancy recipes with exotic ingredients this page is not for you. The recipes you will find here are hearty, tasty, simple, family recipes made with the most important ingredient, love.

When I am not cooking and trying out new recipes, I am actively involved in my local church and love working out at the gym.

As a valued follower, I would love to hear from you. I will always respond to you. Let me know what recipes you would love to see on the site and also any baking tips and techniques you would love to see demonstrated and explained.
