Kiwi Chocolate Chip Cookies

These are still my favourite New Zealand Cookie after all these years and my children’s too.

125g butter
¼ cup sugar
2 tablespoons sweetened condensed milk(see note)
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
1 ½ cups plain flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
½ cup chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 170˚C or 150˚C fan-forced. Line an oven tray with baking paper.

Cream butter, sugar, condensed milk, and vanilla until light and fluffy. Sift flour and baking powder together. Mix sifted dry ingredients and chocolate chips into creamed mixture. Roll teaspoonsful of mixture into balls. Place on oven tray and flatten with a fork. Bake for 20 minutes.

Note: You can buy 200g tubes of sweetened condensed milk in the longlife milk isle of the supermarket. So there is not wastage opening a full tin for 2 tablespoons.
